FAQ

Are you looking to spend a few days vacationing on a gorgeous beach next to crystal blue waters? Then Loreto, Mexico is just where you need to be! It’s a resort town located on the Gulf of California about 220 miles north of La Paz on the east coast of the Baja California peninsula.

This beautiful town isn’t as well-known as other vacation spots in Mexico, so you can avoid the crowds and know you will enjoy every second of your time spent here.

This area of Mexico isn’t as crowded or well-known for tourists, so if you’re looking for a quieter and less traveled place, you should book your vacation through LVR as soon as possible.

It has a terrific reputation for sport fishing and there are many local companies that offer charter boats. During the summer months, you can expect to find numerous fish, including: sailfish, tuna, black marlin, striped marlin, and Atlantic blue marlin. Yellow tails are found during the winter season, along with seabass, grouper, and snapper. Book a fishing charter and fish for a few hours and then spend some time snorkeling. You may find you caught enough fish to stock your freezer at home for several months!

If snorkeling isn’t your idea of fun, but would love to see what’s underneath the water, take a ride in a glass-bottomed boat. The Sea of Cortez offers a wide variety of beautifully colored fish, coral, and sea creatures.

This is also an excellent location for whale and dolphin watching, renting kayaks or canoes, or taking a boat tour. Boat tours include snorkeling, relaxing on one of the sand bars or anchoring off the beach of Isla Carmen.

If you enjoy seeing wildlife, then visiting Loreto Bay National Marine Park should be on your bucket list. You’ll see unspoiled marine life and possibly some big horn sheep, blue whales, dolphin, countless schools of fish, leaping rays, and colorful birds.

The Mision San Francisco Javier de Vigge-Biaundo is a historic sight with a lovely drive about 30 minutes away. The Mision is in a canyon and is an amazing relic, along with the large and twisted olive tree, estimated to be about 300 years old. If you like learning about history, you will love it! There are so many things to do and experience, it will be hard to decide what to do first.

There are also some delicious restaurants that should be on your list to try, including some of the best Mexican cuisine you’ve ever had. You’ll enjoy home-made tamales, fish tacos, salads, fajitas, and other well-known Mexican dishes. Some of the best guacamole you’ve ever had will be offered to you, as well as flavored margaritas, Mexican beer, and other specialty drinks.

Not all restaurants are Mexican cuisine, so if your children want a regular hotdog, hamburger, or pizza, you’ll find that too. The town is large enough to offer just about anything you’d like, but in traveling, it’s great to try the local flavors.
